Because we are all exposed to fake-news and are becoming more and more tightly locked into information bubbles and a significant part of the public is becoming dangerously detached from reality. Because it's not hard to feel powerless in the face of conspiracy theories that can be literally deadly. Because polarisation makes it impossible for us to talk, even to people who are close to us. Some things simply have to change!
We need our fellow citizens to be able to face the facts and accept them as they are. We also need them to recognize and acknowledge the values that make a nuanced and rational debate about social and political issues possible.
The last decade has taught us that this is not possible in the space of today's social media. Therefore, we need a space that fosters change which is crucial to the preservation of our society.

Swarmcheck can also be used to decide arguments, showing which points are well-supported by data, logically valid and grounded in widely-shared values, and which are baseless, illogical or idiosyncratic.
It elegantly illustrates logical relations between specific points, their relevant importance and complexity.
This motivates each side of a discussion to craft the best possible version of their viewpoint, discourages manipulation and prevents personal attacks from even entering the discourse. It probably won't settle every major dispute, but it can settle some, and clarify all the others.
